Wish List - A Better Mechanism for Exporting a Citrix XenApp Datastore

Something I have wanted to develop for a while, is an easier mechanism for exporting the whole data store contents of a Citrix XenApp farm, on the fly, with the click of a button.

Once exported, if needed you could import the data or a subset of it (like just a connection policy or set of published applications).  The export would be in .cab format or something like it.

Only an authenticated Citrix XenApp administrator would be able to perform this task.  The export function would be available from within the Access Management Console.

If needed, the export could be used to setup a duplicated test or UAT environment, or for upgrading / migration purposes.  It could also be used for on the fly data store backups without troubling your SQL buddy.

Is there something out there already which already provides this functionality?  I know there are utilities which allow you to export published applications.

Is there a reason why it not already included as part of the Access Management Console?  I know that with Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise 4.5 you can export the farm to a .cab file, something that I use all the time before making changes on customer sites.

Just thinking..

Lee Wynne
